The What & The Why

A while ago my friend Azra told me that she was leaving town for a few months and that she needed somewhere to store her books. Today I collected a hundred of them in four black bin liners and brought them back to my flat. What do you do with a hundred books? Well, Arza's boyfriend Patrick took them out of the bin liners and made a few stacks on the carpet of my lounge. It is now my job to try to read them all and write about it as I go. I have asked Azra to me email me the complete list (so I don't have to write it up) which I will post when I get it. In the meantime, Patrick has recommended the following that I should start off with (in order):

The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao - Junot Diaz
Darkness At Noon - Authur Koestler
Perfume (The Story Of A Murderer) - Patrick Suskind
Lolita - Vladimir Nabokov
The Poisonwood Bible - Barbara Kingsolver
Nineteen Eighty-Four - George Orwell
The Blind Assassin - Margaret Atwood
Four Novels Of George Elliot - George Eliot

So that is how I am going to start. But just before that, a couple random things: first, for books like Nineteen Eighty-Four and a couple others in the stacks that I have already read, I will just read them again; and second, from time to time I might read some non-Azra books in which case I will probably write about those too.

Off we go...
